Explore permanent and special exhibitions at the Kingsland Homestead, one of the very few surviving 18th century homes in Queens, that is also the first New York City landmark in Queens County. In their core exhibition, learn about the story of the Murray family’s journey as a reflection of the American experience. Their beautifully re-created Victorian parlor, the Kingsland Victorian Room, has been modeled to appear as it would have in the year 1870.

Built in 1862, Flushing Town Hall once served as a civic hub but has evolved into a dynamic cultural venue presenting global arts to a global community. The New York Times called this destination an “architectural gem” and a “first class cultural presenter.” The landmark building, which recently unveiled a renovated 308 seat theatre, gallery and outdoor garden, brings local, national and international award-winning performers and exhibitions to Queens, provides educational programming, and attracts audiences of all ages.

The Voelker Orth Museum, Bird Sanctuary and Victorian Garden occupies an 1891 house that was purchased in 1899 by a German immigrant named Conrad Voelcker (1861-1930). It offers exhibitions, house tours, performances, talks and workshops, and educational programs year-round. Through its period rooms and rotating exhibitions, the Museum yields stories and serves as a setting to explore connections to our recent past.

New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) was founded at the 1964-65 World’s Fair and has evolved into New York’s center for interactive science serving a half million students, teachers and families each year. NYSCI presents more than 450 interactive permanent and temporary experiences that explain science and demystify the world.

KCA is the largest multi-disciplinary arts complex in Queens. The arts center presents exhibitions and outdoor festivals such as such as Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World Festival and Live at the Gantries. KCA organizes an annual commemoration celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and recognizes the work of notable members of the African-American communities of Queens with a live performance.
Pay homage to jazz’s greatest musician. The house of jazz legend Louis Armstrong and his wife Lucille allows visitors a glimpse into their lives with its original furnishings as it was when they lived there. As both a National Historic Landmark and a New York City Landmark, the museum pays tribute to Louis’ life and amazing legacy—not only to the field of jazz, but to the entire world. In the summer, the museum has an outdoor jazz summer concert series.
